SYNOPSIS


In this sharing, we will explore the impactful journey of St. Andrew’s Autism Centre (SAAC), a service of St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital, established in 2005 to meet the growing need to serve individuals on the autism spectrum.

SAAC is the only Social Service Agency (SSA) in Singapore that offers lifespan support, serving over 470 persons with autism through its special education school, day activity centres, and Singapore’s first residential home for persons with autism.

  • School Years (7 - 18 years old): St.Andrew's Autism School offers a comprehensive developmental curriculum in accord with evidensce-based practices for students on the autism
  • Adulthood (>18 years old): The Day Activity Centres plays a pivotal role in improving the quantity of life for individuals with autism.The primary goal at the DAC is to foster independence and develop essential life skills for Special Education (SPED) graduates who are not work-ready.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Melissa Oh, Head, Donor Management and Philanthropy, St. Andrew's Autism Centre


Melissa Oh is currently the Head of Donor Management & Philanthropy at St. Andrew's Autism Centre in Singapore. In this role, she oversees donor relations and philanthropic initiatives, contributing to SAAC's mission of supporting individuals with autism lead dignified and meaningful lives.

Prior to this, Melissa has been serving in various fundraising roles at organisations such as St Luke's ElderCare and Methodist Welfare Services, handling different fundraising portfolios from mass market campaigns to events to donor management.

Melissa holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University at Buffalo School of Management, The State University of New York.
